Jewell A. Linville, the daughter of Clyde Lewis and Nellie Mae (Fry) Cole, was born August 12, 1924, in Broseley, Missouri. She attended several country schools south of Rock Port, Missouri, and Nishnabotna, Missouri, High School, graduating in 1942.
On April 15, 1942, Jewell was united in marriage to Floyd Everett Linville in Rock Port. They made their home in Rock Port and became the parents of two children, Sam and Diana.
Jewell was employed at the Rock Port Fountain, serving the kids all kinds of flavored soda, ice cream and food. In the early 1960’s, Jewell was employed by the Rock Port Market as a bookkeeper, retiring in 1983.
Jewell and Everett loved traveling, especially to the southern United States during the winter months. She enjoyed riding her bicycle, mowing the yard, working a large garden, baking and cooking. Jewell was a member of the Rock Port Baptist Church. Everett passed away in 1997. Jewell passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Rock Port, at the age of 92. Memorial services conducted by Rev. Rodney Hopper were held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Minter Funeral Chapel, Rock Port, Missouri. Inurnment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Rock Port, Missouri.
Besides her parents and husband, Everett, Jewell was preceded in death by son-in-law, Larry Abbott, and siblings, Leo, Mary, Ollie, Tulla, Woodrow, Dewey, Mildred, Stella and Beulah. Survivors include son, Sam Linville, Excelsior Springs, Missouri; daughter, Diana Abbott, Rock Port; former daughter-in-law, Melva Linville, Kansas City; four grandchildren, Mary Margaret, Annette, Eric and Craig; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Roy Cole and wife, Mary, Sparks, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.
