December 15, 1966
Pvt. Dwane M. Bressler, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Bressler, Rock Port, completed eight weeks of advanced infantry training Nov. 25 at Ft. Lewis, Wash. He received specialized instruction in small unit tactics and in firing such weapons as the M-14 rifle, the M-60 machine gun and the 3.5-inch rocket launcher.

December 16, 1976
The Rock Port R-2 schools recently received one of two new buses recently purchased as a part of a continuing effort to keep the school’s bus fleet upgraded. The bus received is a 16-passenger 1976 Chevrolet van converted to meet state bus specifications. The van with the conversion cost $8,250.

December 18, 1986
Roger Blakely, superintendent of the Rock Port R-II Schools, will be graduating this Saturday, Dec. 20 from the University of Nebraska. Roger will receive his doctorate in education, the EDD in administration/curriculum/instruction. Roger’s dissertation was written on teacher evaluation as it relates to staff development.

December 19, 1996
The Citrus Bowl bound Marching Auxiliaries of Rock Port R-II Schools will soon depart for the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Day in Orlando, FL. The girls will fly round trip to Orlando and leave Dec. 28th and return Jan. 2. This is the first flight many of the girls are taking.

December 21, 2006
Kimberly Orndorff, a fifth grade student from Rock Port RII, was one of several local students who participated in the Telcom Insurance Fire Safety Poster contest. Her poster, “Candle Saftey,” was chosen from hundreds of students. Her efforts will be rewarded with a $100 prize from Telcom and her picture will appear in their 4th quarter newsletter.
