December 29, 1966
Jurors serving in the circuit court will be sitting in style with the purchase of 20 modern padded steel chairs ordered by the judges of the county court. Lawyers will also be sitting easier as they will be provided with six of the new models. Others of the 20 ordered will be used by Sheriff Charles Stevens ad Circuit Clerk Albert Kelly. Fluorescent lighting will also be installed in the court room.

December 30, 1976
The Grinch tried to steal Christmas, or so it seemed in Rock Port, Dec. 20, when about 15 gifts were stolen from the Lutheran church. The gifts were prepared by the Lutheran church women and were small things of little value such as powder, Kleenex, and handkerchiefs, according to Mrs. Dick Garst, Watson, president of the women’s organization.

December 25, 1986
City Council passes ordinance allowing sale of wine coolers. Bill #746 which allows the sale of wine coolers was read for the second and third times. The bill is now Ordinance #746 and was entered into the city code.

December 26, 1996
The Christian Motorcyclist Association in Atchison County known as the Heartland Riders put a lot of heartfilled hours into collecting money throughout Atchison County. Donations totaled over $900. With the donations they were able to purchase food to make a warm Christmas meal for forty families. Toys and clothing were also found in some of the packages.

December 26, 2006
The annual Christmas Music Concert was held Tuesday, December 19,2006. Featured in this year’s concert were Chimes, 5th Grade Band, 6th Grade Band, High School Chorus, Jr. High Chorus, Jr. High Band, Bell Choir, High School Band and High School Jazz Band. Also featured were solos by Tayha Lawson on the piano and Myles Freborg on the trumpet.
