Frances Millsap was born on June 9, 1919 in the Milton community of Atchison County. She graduated from Corning High School, and then attended Tarkio College.
On March 29, 1942 she married Orval “Ted” Millsap in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death in 1986.
Frances passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at a Rock Port care center at the age of 97. Services for Frances were held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 2, 2017 at the First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri. Rev. Fritz Brandenburg officiated. A private family inurnment followed in Hunter Cemetery, Rock Port.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, Clemon O. and Emma L. (Martin) VanGundy; brothers, Dick and Bill VanGundy; sister, Virginia Rhoades; and great grandchildren, Devin Faith Millsap and Kevin Michael Beck.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Betty Millsap of Tarkio, Missouri; sister, Dorothy Jean Bradley of Auburn, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Miranda (Randy) Graybill of Tarkio, Shellee (Scott) Driskell of Rock Port, and Chris (Sarah) Millsap of Kansas City, Missouri; nine great grandchildren, Shawn (Rachel) Beck, Danielle (Josh) Beck, David Beck, Jonathan Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Kyle (Carrie) Driskell, Brittany (Kory) Paris, Case Millsap, and Jovie Millsap; eight great-great grandchildren, Michael Beck, Roman Stewart, Cali Driskell, Jacoby Driskell, Kambrie Driskell, Ryker Driskell, Ryan Paris, and Oliver Paris; and nieces and nephews.
Frances loved spending many hours in her flower beds, and working in her garden. She loved having her hands in dirt; she said working in the dirt was therapy for her. She had many friends with whom she enjoyed shopping and meeting weekly for lunch.
She was a member of several organizations and clubs thru the years. Frances was very active in the Lutheran Church, serving on different committees and teaching Sunday School. She loved the Lord as her personal Savior and wanted to share His word with everyone. Frances loved her family and continually made sure they knew how important they are to her.
