Beverly Jean Harness, 85, of Overland Park Kansas, passed away on December 29, 2016. Bev was born October 13, 1931 in Page County, Iowa to Elvis and Leah Perry. She was a loving wife, a good mother, and an amazing grandmother. She was a social butterfly who loved visiting with family and friends. She was driven to help whenever and whomever she could with little regard to her own well-being. She raised her own grandchildren and was grandma or mom to every child in the neighborhood. Bev was an avid and accomplished bowler who loved sports and went out of her way not to miss a Kansas City Chiefs or Kansas City Royals game. Bev was never a fair-weather follower, she never had a bad word to say about her home teams, and she was always overjoyed when they won.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elvis and Leah Perry, her sisters Pauline Bartlett, Elene Murry, and Geraldine (Jerry) Mitchell.
Bev is survived by her husband Merlin Harness, sister Sarah Hoffman, children Terry Harness, Jana Taylor, and Candice Aranjo, her grandchildren, Melissa Clark, Jody Harness, Cameron Harness, Aaron Taylor, and Matthew Taylor, and her twelve great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on January 4, 2017 at the Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210. Placement of her ashes immediately followed.
