Bald eagles spotted north of Fairfax.
The Exchange Bank of Fairfax presented UPS delivery man, Dick Hansen, with a retirement gift on Thursday, January 4, 2007.
The Community for Kids’ Preschool students shared with readers what they think snow is made of (here are a few excerpts): Kilea Cooper – Vanilla ice cream, not chocolate because snow is not brown; McKenzie Frohn – green grass goes up into the sky, the sun makes it white, and it comes down on the ground; Jagger Freemyer – Water and rain – Marshmallows fall from the clouds; and Gena Mitchell – God makes snow from the fur on the back of sheep.

An Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held at the Methodist Church in Fairfax honoring Paul Jones. Paul had completed his requirements for the Eagle Scout award before high school was out, but due to his acceptance into the Air Force Academy, the ceremony was not held until now.
Corris Kay Gallagher was the New Year’s baby born at Community Hospital, Fairfax.
The 61st annual Fairfax Invitational Basketball Tournament was set to begin January 13. There were eight boys’ and girls’ teams entered.

January 12, 1967
In ceremonies following the Friday night basketball games, Sheldon Davis and Terry Swackhamer were crowned king and queen of the 1967 basketball homecoming.
Kiwanis officers installed were: Dale Wake, president; Reverend Reid Swindler, 1st vice president; Roy Gater, 2nd vice president; Mitchell Mulvania, secretary; and Harry Emrick, treasurer.
Prices at IGA – One carton of six, 10 ounce Pepi-Cola and one carton of six, 10 ounce Mountain Dew for $.65 total; Tide Detergent king size for $.99; and 2 lbs. of Delicious apples for $.33.
