The grand opening of Gambles, Rock Port, scheduled for Jan. 20 to 22, will be celebrated by a “super sale” and door prizes according to owner Greg Curfman, who took over the management of the store in September. Door Prizes will include a Mr. Coffee, and upright Eureka vacuum cleaner and a Slow Cooker crock pot. Also, donuts, cookies and coffee will be offered free to customers.
January 8, 1987
Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has honored two Cooper Nuclear Station employees for their years of service to the utility. David Robinson of Rock Port, was honored for completing five years of service. Robinson, a quality assurance specialist, joined NPPD in 1981 as a licensed station operator. He was named unit operator in 1983 and in 1984 was named to his current position. Melvin Sandau of Auburn, Neb. received an award for completing 20 years of service.

The Rock Port Boys Basketball Team (the only 1A school) rose above Lathrop, Tarkio Academy, and LeBlond to win the Bishop LeBlond Holiday Tournament which took place December 26 through December 30. Dave Ketchens was selected Most Valuable Player of LeBlond’s Holiday Tournament.

The 2007 Wrestling Homecoming coronation was held on Friday, January 5, 2007 during 8th hour school day. This was the first year the homecoming festivities were held during the school day. Crown bearers were Ethan Wood and Ashley Christian. Chris Peeler and Melinda Bell were chosen King and Queen.
