A funeral service for Duane O. “Andy” Ander­son was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Tarkio. Interment was held at Linden Cemetery, Rock Port. Reverend Glenn Scott officiated. Military rites were under the auspices of Allen-Schiffern American Le­gion Post #199, Tarkio. Services were under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Andy, the son of Gilbert and Anna (Holt) Anderson, was born June 27, 1926, in Tarkio, Missouri. Andy graduated from Tarkio High School and was drafted by the United States Navy to serve during World War II in 1944. After receiving his honorable discharge in 1946, Andy returned to Tarkio and enrolled in Tarkio College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. For many years Andy and his business partner, Mick McNeal, painted homes in the Atchison County area. On January 2, 1950, Andy became the proud parent of daughter, Judy Ann.
On May 13, 1995, Andy was united in marriage to Zerita May Guyette in Tarkio. They made their home in Tarkio and enjoyed 21 years together. Andy passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri, at the age of 90.
Andy was a member of the Tarkio Golf and Country Club, the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199 and faithfully attended the First Baptist Church, all of Tarkio.
Besides his parents, Andy was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight Anderson; and one aunt, Myrtle Holt. Survivors include his wife, Zerita Anderson, Tarkio; daugh­ter, Judy (Alan) Bradfield, St. Joseph, Missouri; stepson, Gary (Sandra) John­­son, stepdaughters, Deb­ra (Byron) Johnson, Su­san Raney, and Tina (John) Goforth, all of Bakersfield, California; two grandchildren, Dawn (Derek) Davis and Eric Bradfield; two great-grandchildren; 10 step­-grand­children; and 10 step-great­-grandchildren.
