Mark your calendars for Feb. 6, 7, 9, and 10, from 6-8:30 p.m. for auditions. The State Theater Art Council of Mound City, in conjunction with Dramatists Play Services will begin production of the dramatic comedy “Arsenic and Old Lace” by Joseph Kesselring under the direction of Deb Johnson, Rock Port, Mo.
This classic is a story of two spinster sisters running a boarding house for single men, with their insane brother (who just happens to think he’s Teddy Roosevelt!) Their anti-matrimonial nephew comes to tell his aunts of his pending marriage and the ol’ gals have more to tell him then he ever could have thought.
This show, which opens the weekend of April 28 for three shows, calls for an older cast (14 -15 members). So, if you’re a fellow thespian between 16 and 90 yrs old, start planning to attend auditions. Do a cold read from the script and most of all have some fun. Contact Deb Johnson if you have questions by calling (660) 253-0143.
