Janet Berenice (Smith) Moses, the daughter of Vernie and Euthel (Freeman) Smith, departed this life February 1, 2017 at the Tarkio Rehabilitation Center in Tarkio, Mo. at the age of 78 years. Janet was born in Sycamore, Missouri, on January 9, 1939.
Janet attended High School in Fairfax, Missouri.
Janet was united in marriage to Jerry Moses at the Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax, on December 31, 1955. Jerry and Janet were the first couple to be married in the “new” Fairfax Baptist Church. Jerry and Janet resided their entire married life in the Atchison County area.
Janet was a member of the Fairfax Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school. She was a homemaker; she had various jobs as a waitress, cleaned the Baptist Church, and was a homecare provider. She faced numerous battles with cancer and won. She was active in the Milton Pitch Club and various other pitch clubs. She belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary and Order of Eastern Star Fairfax Chapter #373.
She was a kind and friendly woman, loving mother, and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry, her son Jerry Allan, grandson, Coleman, and sister, Patty Garrett.
She is survived by sons Ricky (Nada) Moses of Davie, Florida and Mike (Karen) Moses of Independence, Mo.; daughters: Debra Bolton of Brighton, Mo. and Cindy (Rick) Sons of Fairfax, Mo.; sisters: Ella Mae Jackson of Branson, Mo., Annie Scarlett of Cameron, Mo., Judy (Wayne) Ellis of St. James, Mo.; brother, Gerald (Sandy) Smith of Wheatridge, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Carol (Bill) Bargeman of Lee’s Summit, Mo., Joy (Dennie) Beemer of Gravity, Iowa; brother-in-law, Larry (Linda) Moses of Fairfax, Mo; grandchildren, Dominick and Sierra Moses, Jeanie Del (James) Arnold, Devon (Mikaela) and Kristi Sons, Nathan, Adam, and Samantha Moses and Chris and Dean Moses; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Fairfax Baptist Church, Fairfax. Dr. Andy Braams officiated. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery at Fairfax. Arrangements were under the direction of the Schooler Funeral Home.
