Respectfully Submitted, Pam Cooper Recording Secretary- The February 6, 2017, meeting of the Fairfax Sorosis group was in the basement of the Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. President Judy Holtz brought the meeting to order and attendance was taken. Eight members answered roll call, which was “Do you know anyone who has a robot?” Well guess what? The most popular answer was a robotic vacuum cleaner!
The minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Debbie Johnson reported that there is $292.96 in the account. Debbie suggested the group go ahead and pay the church. All agreed with Dana Osburn making the motion and Barb Jones doing the second. There were no committee reports or old business. On the new business side, the group paid $10 memorials for members – Adah Pyeatt and Donna Ray have passed away. The need for a new corresponding secretary was discussed, but not acted on as the group is about to elect a new slate anyway. Another person was needed to serve on the nominating committee. It was decided to do two instead and Pam Cooper and Carolyn Pyeatt volunteered to serve.
There were some kinks in the calling tree so the members re-worked that a bit. Leona gave the Critic’s Report and then the group was on to music. The teacher came out in Georgia as she handed out a quiz which had pictures and the members were to come up with the appropriate song. Fun! Fun! Leave it to Georgia to activate the old brains.
A motion was made by Barb Jones to change up the programs for the end of the year. Dana seconded the motion. The group will not be hosting a luncheon for the FHS music students. The Bon Mot and Collect were read by the group and Judy adjourned the meeting.
