February 23, 1967
C.H. Goppert, chairman of the board of the Citizens Bank of Atchison County, has announced plans to construct a new bank building on a site already cleared at the southeast corner location of Main Street and Sickler Avenue. Project plans also include a building for professional offices which will be a separate structure connected to the bank by a covered mall.

February 24, 1977
The Rock Port Gambles store, owned and managed by Greg Curfman, Rock Port, ranked number one in sales percentage increase in the past year over the 30 Gambles stores in this area. The Rock Port store also ranked seventh in total volume sales for January.

February 26, 1987
Rock Port took five wrestlers to the State Tournament this year placing 14th. The men wrestled some tough ones, winning some and losing some. Grapplers who qualified for State were: Cory Hill, Bryan Richards, Mike McKenney, Pat Hickey and Jason Garst. Pat Hickey, a senior, took third place and Jason Garst, a junior, became a StateChampion in his weight class.

February 27, 1997
Seven junior high music students went to Maryville to participate in the annual Solo and Ensemble Contest. Those seven students performed nine entries. Rock Port came away with five superior ratings and four excellent ratings. They have been working on their music since before Christmas. Students who participated were: Erica Corken, Stefanie Dalrymple, Becca Mianulli, Amy VanMeter, Jill Webster, Hallie Clodfelter and Melissa Herron.

National leaders from both parties are calling for increased use of renewable energy, and a northwest Missouri community is leading the way. Rock Port, Missouri will become what is believed to be the first community in the nation to produce enough electricity from wind to meet its entire annual electricity demands.
