Rock Port High School’s new Principal for the 2017-2018 school year will be Mr. Ethan Sickels.
Mr. Sickels was born and raised in Kellerton, Iowa. He graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in Mount Ayr, Iowa, and earned his undergrad degree in Elementary/MS Education from University of Northern Iowa. He continued his education and earned his Masters in Administration from Northwest Missouri State University and then went for his Ed Specialist in Superintendency at NWMSU as well.
Mr. Sickels began his teaching career in Cameron, Mo., staying four years as a teacher, mainly in MS Math. He is finishing his fifteenth year in education in Missouri. The other eleven years he has been an Elementary Principal for seven and JH/HS Principal for four. He has been at Nodaway-Holt for two consecutive years, and five years total as an administrator. Over the years he has coached high school boys basketball, junior high football, and the last two years he has coached both the junior high girls and boys basketball teams.
Mr. Sickels says he is “looking forward to joining a school that is known for its great success, both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities as well. The administration and staff really have the school moving forward in what they are teaching and offering. I can tell from visits to the school and community that Rock Port will be a great place to live and work, and am extremely excited to get started at RP.”
