The Heartland Riders chapter of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) will be participating in CMA’s annual fundraising event, Run for the Son (RFS), on Saturday, May 6, 2017. CMA chapters all over the U.S. plan a 100 mile motorcycle ride for this event. Chapter members seek donations from family, friends, businesses, and other organizations. The monies raised support evangelism in the U.S. and around the world. Of the monies raised, CMA donates 20% to Missionary Ventures International which provides motorcycles and other forms of transportation to indigenous pastors in developing countries to enable them to spread the Gospel in their nations. Another 20% of the funds raised is donated to The Jesus Film Project which spreads the Gospel through film. The film of the Book of Luke has been translated into over 1400 languages and is shown to people all over the world so they can see and hear about God’s love for them in their own heart language. A third 20% is donated to Open Doors Ministry which finds ways to take Bibles and other Christian materials into countries closed to the Gospel. CMA retains 40% of the funds raised for evangelistic outreach activities in the U.S.
The motto of CMA is “Changing the World One Heart at a Time.” Heartland Riders members have participated in mission trips with CMA’s ministry partners and have seen the effective use of RFS monies. Members have also participated in outreach and service at large motorcycle rallies and other community events. Last summer, chapter members passed out water at the Rock Port I-29 rest stop to bikers on their way to the Sturgis Rally. The Heartland Riders annually, with donations from chapter members, community members, and community organizations put together and deliver around 40 Christmas food baskets to the elderly in Atchison County. The chapter participates in community events such as the Lord’s Acre Parade, Trunk or Treat at the Tarkio Rehabilitation Center, the Rodeo Parade and the Car Show in Niedermeyer Park, Old Fashioned Saturday Night, Apple Days in Nebraska City, Cruising Clarinda, and Prison Ministry. The chapter also does church services at the Tarkio Rehabilitation Center and has helped raise funds for Hogs for Haiti, a ministry that helps build schools in Haiti. Chapter members are from Fairfax, Rock Port and Tarkio. Individually as well, the members volunteer their time in their communities. The chapter has its monthly meetings the second Saturday of each month. If you are interested in more information on Heartland Riders, contact president David Fruechtenicht at 660-736-4463.
