With a successful Bat­tle of the Books just completed with 59 readers from Atchison County, the Mule Barn Theatre Guild looks forward to spring and summer! The battle was sponsored by the Atchison County Development Cor­poration.
The Tarkio Resource Center’s annual benefit golf tournament with the Tarkio Chamber of Commerce is scheduled for June 26 at the Tarkio Golf Club. Proceeds will go toward the maintenance of the Tarkio Resource Center.
Missoula Children’s Thea­tre of Missoula, Mon­tana, will return to Tarkio July 24. Boys and girls who have completed kindergarten through seniors in high school are invited to be in the show “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast,” an original country western adaptation of a classic fairy tale. After a week of rehearsals, two performances will be held in the Tarkio High School auditorium on Saturday, July 29. Registration forms are available at the Resource Center and at the Flower Mill and will be passed out to students next month near the last day of school.
In August, the guild will host a salad luncheon for new teachers and administrators. The guild also sponsors a visit from Dr. Seuss to the Elementary School each spring.
Christmas crafts for kids takes place at the annual Chamber/Lions Club holiday celebration the first Saturday in December. Last year, over 100 kids made ornaments for their Christmas tree to take home. Each boy and girl received a free book.
Membership letters are in the mail. Joining the guild is a way to support not only the Tarkio Resource Center, but all the projects undertaken by the Guild each year.
