(Peru, Neb.) – It is hard to believe, but it has been 50 years since the first graduating class received their diplomas from Southeast Nebraska Consolidated. But, that is the case and organizers are planning an event to not only recognize the 50-year class, but to have an all-school reunion as well.
The event will be held Saturday, May 27, at the former school in the renovated former industrial arts portion of the building. There will be a social gathering form 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. when the dinner will begin which will be catered by one of Southeast’s graduates, Jana (Geyer) Anderson and her staff from Wooden Spoon Catering.
The cost for the event will be $20 which includes a two-meat buffet, salads, potatoes, dessert, and water/tea and music. A DJ has been hired to play various music from the decades related to the school’s history.
Event organizers Vicki (Hall) Beilke (1968), Paula (Huey) Hays (1975), Amy (Lewis) Hector (1977), Sondra (Stanley) Westenburg (1979), and Ted L. Harshbarger (1974) have other things planned in addition to the meal.
For those interesting in golfing, individuals can enjoy a round of golf in the morning at Kirkman’s Cove in Humboldt. Mark Joy (1979) and Brian Hall (1974) are organizing the event. To play, contact Joy at 402-5181 or Hall at 402-883-2425.
Additionally in the morning, the Village of Stella will be hosting members and animals from the Henry Doorly Zoo down for an educational workshop for families and children. The time and location of the event will be announced later.
Memorabilia will be available for pre-purchasing through Christy’s This That & More owned by Christy (Vice) Berglund (1977). All items will have the Mustang on it. A t-shirt will be available for $15, with sizes 2X or larger being $17. In addition, an aluminum water bottle will be available for $10 with a coffee mug as an option for $5. Pre-payment is required by making the check to Southeast PFK and can be mailed to Harshbarger at 71909 637 Ave, Humboldt, NE 68376-7045. Deadline for reservations is May 15. If anyone plans to come after the registration deadline has passed, please contact Harshbarger as soon as possible.
