Tarkio lost one of its greatest citizens this past week with the passing of Larry McKinnon. Larry was well known for selling delicious vegetables on “the honor system” at his house on Hwy. 59. People have put up flowers at his vegetable stand as a memorial to the man who was just recently named Citizen of the Year. Larry’s neighbors, Cassie and Heith Shaw, would like to continue Larry’s vegetable stand as it was Larry’s desire to provide vegetables this summer free of charge, as long as the patrons of the stand promised to pay it forward by providing someone with a kind gesture. The Shaws are looking for donations (no money) of plants, especially tomatoes. The potatoes and onions are already in the ground so those aren’t needed. If you would like to provide vegetables for the garden, set it by the vegetable stand or contact Cassie Shaw.
