The Rock Port Park Board met on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the Rock Port City Park. Members present were Sheena Roup, Jill Lager, Lisa Farmer, Greg Young, Tisha Jackson and Shauna Farmer. Members absent were Tawni Ellis, Jim Skillen and Katey Kroeger. Also present were Libby Weber and City Clerk Ashtin Paris.
Park Board President Lisa Farmer called the meeting to order at 6:26 p.m.
Lisa Farmer moved to approve the meeting agenda. Jill Lager seconded. All votes aye.
Rock Port Marlins Swim Team Coach Libby Weber was present. Online registration is now available for swim team. An ad has been placed in the paper for the online registration. The swim team is interested in having a concession stand at movie night as a fundraiser. Libby reported that a reel and reel cover were purchased from Libby presented a price match quote from for 5 line ropes plus shipping in the amount of $2,128.80. Rock Port Marlins currently has $1,365.85 in funds. An additional $500 in donations will be coming in leaving a shortage of $262.95 for the purchase.
Lisa Farmer moved to purchase the swim team ropes and have Rock Port Marlins reimburse the park board for $262.95. Tisha Jackson seconded. All votes aye.
Swim team practice will begin May 23 at 6:30 p.m. if the pool is able to open on May 22nd. Evening practices will be held on weeknights through June 2nd. Morning practices will begin June 3rd. The diving board will need to be taken off on swim meet days.
Jill Lager moved to approve the April 24, 2017 meeting minutes. Shauna Farmer seconded. All votes aye.
Tisha Jackson moved to approve the April 2017 financials. Sheena Roup seconded. All votes aye.
Adult swim will be held Monday – Thursday from 12-1 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. beginning June 5. The pool will close at 7:15 p.m. if no one comes for adult swim.
The Swimmer Code of Conduct was reviewed and updated. Rock Port City Pool and in the City Park will be underlined and bolded. A 7th line will be added to the Swimmer Code of Conduct stating “I will and anyone on my pass will follow all pool rules as posted.”
Lisa Farmer obtained a quote for an additional camera and new DVR. A new DVR would be needed to add the additional camera. Total cost is $831.25. Lisa will follow up on the quote and ask about the outdoor speaker that was purchased in 2013.
The Park Board requested increased police patrol at the City Park. Clerk Paris will contact Chief Sherwood with the request.
The Movie Night in the Park was discussed. Tisha Jackson requested Clerk Paris check with the City Attorney to see if a license is needed to show the movie.
4th of July was discussed. An ad needs to be placed stating that absolutely no fireworks may be shot off in the City Park. It is against City Ordinance to shoot off fireworks in the City Park.
Shauna Farmer reported low water pressure at the pool. Clerk Paris will make a work order in the morning.
The next meeting will be held Thursday, June 1st at 7 p.m. at the City Park.
Signs for the pool will be ordered to replace the existing signs that have faded. 3 rules signs and a no bicycles on the sidewalk sign need to be ordered. Clerk Paris will check to see if the light for the flag pole works.
