The Missoula Children’s Theatre is coming to Tarkio again this year with a production of “Beauty Lou and the Country Beast.” It’s an original country western adaptation of a classic fairy tale. Watch what happens when Beauty Lou agrees to befriend the Beast in order to save her family. And see how Beauty Lou and the Beast both learn how to look beyond appearances and first impressions and to see the beauty that dwells inside. Among the roles to be cast are Beauty Lou, Imaginary Friend, Beast, Dusty and Slim the farmhands, Fleabite Clyde the dog, the Younger Daughters, the Older Daughters, the Country Folk and the Barnyard Critters.
Tuition is $30 per actor/actress ages kindergarten (completed) to teenagers, or $40 for 2 in the same family (living under the same roof). Scholarships are available too! To register, call the Tarkio Resource Center office at 660-736-4126 and leave a message and a registration form will be mailed to you. The phone is checked every day!
Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes, scenery, props and makeup. Rehearsal hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. so kids can have time to swim in the afternoon! Lunch will be provided for those who stay for both rehearsals. (Not everyone will rehearse at the same time). When your registration is received, a letter of information will be mailed to you with information about your week of theater rehearsals and the 2 performances that will take place Saturday, July 29, 2017, in the air conditioned auditorium at Tarkio High School. This annual event is sponsored by area organizations, businesses and individuals, as well as the Mule Barn Theatre Guild.
This year’s directors are Kady Nordstrom and Bethany Mansfield.
