On Saturday, June 24, 2017, the Doug Summa Memorial Park 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Fun Run/Walk will take place near the park on South 3rd Street in Tarkio. There will be a trophy for the overall male and female winners. Medals will be given to the first three places in eight age groups.
Pre-registration can be done by picking up a registration form at Tarkio City Hall or Heartland Recreation Center in Tarkio. The registration form is also printed below. Return the form and fee of $20 to Tarkio City Hall by June 3 to get your free T-shirt the day of the event.
On the day of the event, registration begins at 8 a.m. The 5K starts at 9:30 a.m. The fee is $25 after June 3 and the day of the event, but there will not be a free T-shirt. Let’s all get registered early for the free T-shirt and help build restrooms at the park!
The Kids’ Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. with pre-registration at 8 a.m. The fee is $10 if registered at City Hall by June 3, which includes a free T-shirt. After June 3 the fee is $15, but there will not be a free T-shirt. The kids will go on a half-mile route, which is very visible from the park. Grandparents and parents can watch their children and cheer them on. Kids 12 and under can only register and compete in one race, but can participate in both. All participants who are 3 and under who walk, run or get pushed in a stroller will receive a participation ribbon. So come on mommies and bring those babies and toddlers! It is never too early to encourage them to exercise.
Restrooms are needed at the park and the community’s support is needed to make this happen. Get those walking/running shoes on and come join in!
