Duane L. Riley passed away at his home on Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the age of 69. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Methodist Church in Fairfax, Missouri.
Duane was the son of William Lewis and Georgia (Brown) Riley, born June 30, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri. Duane attended Tarkio public schools, graduating in 1965. Duane was an Army veteran who served in the war in Vietnam.
Duane spent the majority of his career as a mechanical engineer at beef packing plants in Missouri, Idaho, and Colorado. In 2003, he moved to Sedalia, Missouri, where he designed and built the house that he would live in for the remainder of his life.
Survivors include son, Andrew Riley and daughter-in-law Anita Riley of Petersburg, Illinois, daughter Amy Smith and son-in-law Scott Smith of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, grandchildren Mason Markle, Madison Markle, Tyson Markle, Benjamin Riley, Sharlyn Smith and Shayla Smith. He is also survived by siblings, Bill Riley, Tarkio, Missouri, Larry Riley, Fairfax, Kerry Million, Fairfax, Rick Riley, Kearney, Nebraska, and Pam Davis, Fairfax. Duane is also survived by numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends and neighbors. Besides his parents, Duane was preceded in death by sister, Karen Timmerman.
Duane had an impact on many lives, and he will be greatly missed by many.
