The State Theater Arts Council will be hosting a theater camp June 19 – 30, 2017, at the State Theatre in Mound City, Mo. This year’s camp will be from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Monday through Friday. The cost of the camp is $30 per student, ages third grade through 12th grade for the 2016-2017 school year. Camp includes a snack every day, a T-shirt, and instructions in all aspects of theater.
Campers will perform a one act play at the end of the two-week period.
While learning the one act, students will also explore the different aspects of theater including lights, sound, costumes, and set.
Campers will get to take part in games and activities that help them learn how to develop a character, the different areas of the stage, and improvisation. This is the third year that the camp is under the direction of Ginny Smith. Ginny enjoys sharing a love for theater and acting with our communities youth and is dedicated to teaching students the basics of theater, such as movement, improvisation, production basics, “how to” be a good performer, “how to” be a good audience member, and character development.
If you would like more information about camp or the State Theater, you can call 660-442-5909 with any questions. The deadline to sign up for camp is June 10.
