The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) Board met June 7, 2017. Present were: Lydia Hurst, Lori Seymour, Bob Alldredge, Jeff Meyer, Craig Corken, and Eryn Stepp, board members. Monica Bailey and Carol Clark were also present.
Board members voted to approve minutes as presented.
A membership update was given. Board members voted to approve financials as presented.
Director’s Report
• A Business Improvement Grant was awarded in May, bringing the total allotted this year to $5,600. Funds of $3,600 remain for 2017.
• A New Business Grant for $1,000 was awarded in May.
• Bailey updated the board on EEZ legislation. SB 111 awaits the governor’s signature, and includes language related to the 10 years prior to the expiration of an EEZ. Bailey is following up with DED on their interpretation/ruling on this.
• On March 31, EDF Renewable Energy provided an update on their Brickyard Hill Wind Project, proposed to be located between Rock Port and Fairfax.
• A presentation and public hearing for Tradewind Energy’s Outlaw Wind Project will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m., at the Velma Houts Building in Rock Port.
• The annual meeting between Northwest Missouri Roundtable of Economic Developers and Northeast Missouri Development Partnership was held May 25.
• Bailey will be serving as a District 1 representative on Missouri Economic Development Council for 2017-2018.
New Business
• The board revisited the support request from the Atchison County Multipurpose Center (Tarkio Nutrition Center) regarding their sidewalk project, along with an additional request from the City of Tarkio for the same project. The group asked Bailey to reiterate to the Center that they need to see more details on this request, including specifics on the scope/cost (via a bid) and funds that have been raised thus far.
