We may not have gotten as much rain as we needed Wednesday, June 14, 2017, but we did receive some damaging winds.
Watson had a lot of hard wind and driving rain which left much of the corn blown down.

Along with the corn, northeast of Watson, a gigantic hack berry tree was also blown over at High Creek Cemetery.  Annie Wakefield stated, “we were so blessed that the direction it fell hopefully didn’t damage or destroy any monuments and the flying debris did not hit or damage the little country church.  The tree is a total loss and will change the look of the cemetery immensely. That tree had always been there for as long as I can remember and that makes it OLD.  Thought it might be a good day for a drive. Our family’s sweet corn patch is a MESS… That’s summer storms in  Northwest Missouri, right? I only hope and pray for nothing worse.”
