The Rock Port Park Board met Monday, June 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Port City Park. Members present were Jill Lager, Katey Kroeger, Shauna Farmer, Lisa Farmer and Tawni Ellis.
Jill Lager moved to approve the meeting agenda. Katey Kroeger seconded. All votes aye.
Lisa Farmer moved to approve the June 1, 2017, meeting minutes. Katey Kroeger seconded. All votes aye.
Activities for July 4th festivities were discussed. Flags and banners will be hung up on Sunday. The schedule includes pool games, volleyball, softball, the color run and the baby contest. Fireworks will conclude the evening in the park.
The Rock Port pool has sold 121 passes. Water aerobics are going well. Katey Kroeger moved to spend up to $375 to purchase and install walk up stairs by the slide in the shallow end and to obtain prices for replacing the other three ladders in the pool. Jill Lager seconded this motion. All votes aye.
A new baby pool gate, pool ropes, and concession door need to be added to next year’s pool list.
Movie night in the park had around 75 participants. There was a total of $16 donated to help with the next movie. Discussion about the next movie date and a bigger viewing screen took place. Park Board will look at dates in late August and September for another movie date.
Jill Lager moved to have Maryville Glass and Lock come this fall to price replacing the doors to the pool entrance. Tawni Ellis seconded. All votes aye.
The next Park Board meeting will be held July 19, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the City Park.

The Rock Port Park Board met on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at the Rock Port City Park. Members present were Jill Lager, Katey Kroeger, Shauna Farmer, Lisa Farmer and Sheena Roup.
Lisa Farmer called the meeting to order.
Lisa Farmer moved to approve the meeting agenda and Jill Lager seconded. All votes aye.
Erika Daugherty attended the meeting as a scheduled visitor. Erika discussed two maintenance issues. First was the baby pool gate lock. The board assured Erika that there was a work order in progress on the gate. The second was a light not working in the baby pool restroom. The pool staff was notified and the light bulb was replaced. Erika also noted that the trash can needed to be emptied in there as well. Erika questioned some of the rules in the baby pool and the fairness of those rules. An explanation for why these rules are in place was given.

Lisa Farmer moved to approve opening a Park Board credit card to ease in online transactions for the park and pool. Jill Lager seconded. All votes aye.
The potholes in the swimming pool parking lot were discussed again. The board would still like to have the holes filled this summer and will also add parking lot repair to early April in the annual maintenance calendar.
Lisa Farmer moved to get bids on tree trimming in the park. Jill Lager seconded. The board understands that this may have to be done in stages.
Fall movie night in the park has been set for Saturday, October 7, with the movie “Casper” being purchased to show. The Tourism Board may be helping with other family friendly activities and food during the evening to expand the event.
Sheena Roup offered information on walking/bike trail grants. The board will continue to look at ways to add this feature to our park area and community.
An unlimited play all-inclusive playground was tabled so the board can focus on the trail and the possibility of upgrading or building a new pool.
The flag for the flagpole was also tabled.
A work order will be made for the painting of the shelter house.
Shauna Farmer moved to order three stainless steel ladders B8200 with listed attachments for $333 apiece. Tisha Jackson seconded. All votes aye.
Katey has been checking in to prices of a new aquatic center. Katey Kroeger moved to post a bid for a new aquatic center. Sheena Roup seconded. All votes aye. This will allow us to obtain more accurate information on how much a new facility would cost.
Baby pool signs will be checked on by Lisa.
The 2017 pool season is going strong. Starfish visited in June and will be here in July and August. The pool will maintain regular business hours through Tuesday, August 15, 2017. The pool will also be open on the 19th and 20th.
MIRMA risk control visited the pool and reviewed our policies. A policy on service dogs will need to be put in place. Tisha Jackson moved to add a service dog policy. Katey Kroeger seconded. All votes aye.
ACDC would like to use the park facilities on September 29, 2017, for a Careers on Wheels program for the freshmen in Atchison County.
The next Park Board meeting will be held August 23, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Park.
