• The Tarkio Volunteer Fire Department sponsored a bucket brigade Thursday, July 30, for teams in the C.A.B.A. World Series. The brigade competition was held at the South City Park. Twelve teams competed in the event, with Mississippi winning it with a time of 1 minute, 28 seconds.
• The Tarkio Police Department arrested two suspects following the execution of a search warrant at 415 Main Street in Tarkio which recovered approximately 90 pounds of marijuana.
August 3, 1967
• Professional writer and former missionary, Elisabeth Elliot, was the speaker for the Institute Hour during the Institute of Basic Theology held at Tarkio College. Over 100 people from nine states attended.
• The William H. Schechter Auditorium-Physical Education Center is nearing completion. College officials anticipate that the new $840,640 multipurpose building will be ready for football camp August 20. Extensive work has also been done on the football field.
July 31, 1942
• The Boy Scouts won their first softball victory of the season last Thursday night by defeating Farmer City 7-3 before the largest crowd of the year at the athletic field at the city park.
• Hail, which fell during the heavy rain Friday evening, did considerable damage to growing crops and gardens in the Homer section. Many report the loss of chickens, too.
