The Commission met on Thursday, August 17, 2017. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curt Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner James Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed, approved and ordered paid.
The commission reviewed contract #TR42 from MoDOT with details for placing the Agri Ready signs along the State right-of-way.
The commission approved going out for a new bid for a three year term on the pasture ground located along Highway 136 adjacent to the landfill. Bids will be opened on Thursday, August 31, at 11:30 a.m. Bid specifications can be picked up in the County Clerk’s Office.
There being no further business to come before the commission, the commission adjourned.

The commission continued review of contract #TR42 from MoDOT with details for placing the Agri Ready signs along the state right-of-way. The contract will be forwarded to Ivan Schraeder, legal counsel for the county, for him to review and advice.
Teresa Morehouse with C.A.R.E. of Atchison County was present at 9 a.m. to request permission to use the courthouse lawn for the 2017 Domestic Violence Candlelight Ceremony on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at 6 p.m. The commission granted the request and will prepare a proclamation.
The commission received notice from the Missouri Department of Conservation that due to the fact that House Bill 19 did not pass in the 2017 legislative session, the department is facing significant reduction in their authority to spend monies for capital improvement projects. As a result the department is unable to proceed with the CART program at this time. This program provided funding for the county to put an additional 20 tons of rock per mile on local conservation area roads. As a result the county will only be applying their normal 90 tons of rock per mile on those roads.
The commissioners went to the Graves-Chapple Field Day.
