A graveside memorial service and inurnment for Dr. David Theodore Kyle will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri. Pastor Will Ratcliff will officiate. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio.
Dr. Kyle, the son of Newton (Newt) Parker, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Kyle, was born June 21, 1932, in Maryville, Missouri. He attended Peru High School, Peru, Nebraska, graduating in 1950. He attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri, graduating in 1954. In September 1954, David entered the United States Army, and proudly served his country for two years while stationed in Hawaii during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in September 1956. After being discharged from the Army, David attended UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating third in his class of 1961, earning a DDS degree. Dr. Kyle came back to Tarkio, where he practiced dentistry for 40 years.
Dr. Kyle served on the Tarkio City Council, and was a former member of the Tarkio Rotary Club, Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199, Tarkio, and North Star Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M., Rock Port, Missouri. He was also a member of the Tarkio Presbyterian Church and often volunteered at the Tarkio Nutrition Center for Meals on Wheels.
Dr. Kyle enjoyed playing tennis and biking, spending most days biking around Tarkio. For many years, he enjoyed playing snooker in the afternoon at the Tarkio Nutrition Center with friends. Dr. Kyle passed away peacefully Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Cameron Missouri Veterans Home, at the age of 85.
In addition to his parents, Dr. Kyle was preceded in death by brother, Newton (Bud) Parker Kyle, Jr. and niece, Deborah Morrill. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Vicki Rae Kyle; children, David Michael (Alison) Kyle, Decatur, Georgia, Christopher Eric (Julie) Kyle, Birmingham, Alabama, Carrie Lynn Kyle (Mark) Byrne, Round Rock, Texas, and Craig Barton (Jill) Kyle, Columbia, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Margaret (Maggie) and Matthew Kyle, Decatur, Alexandra and Spencer Kyle, Birmingham, Colin, Ian and Ronan Byrne, Round Rock, and Connor and Carson Kyle, Columbia; twin sister, Rosemary (Lowell) Morrill, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Nancy Kyle, Tarkio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Cameron Missouri Veterans Home doctors and staff for the good care during the 18 months David was a resident, as well as Comfort Care Hospice during those last days of David’s earthly life.
