I would like to take this time to thank you for helping to keep the area at the city burn pile free of items that are not supposed to be placed there. This summer has been very good in that respect. I know with fall upon us that a lot of you will be doing some yard and property clean-up. I would just like to remind everyone of a few items that we ask not be placed at the burn pile.
There can be any yard waste put there for disposal, except for anything man made (you can dump the plants from your pots, but please take the pots home with you and place in your household trash). Please do not dump any metal of any kind (one of the many reasons for this is metal will ruin tires on our equipment and they are very expensive to replace). No plastic or rubber products of any kind are allowed and please no remodeling scrap of any kind. This includes, but not limited to, siding, doors, cabinets, paint or paint cans, drywall, linoleum, or laminate flooring.
The city will be burning the pile this fall. We will try our best to choose a day when the wind is blowing away from town, but the pile is large and will take some time to burn. The wind can change direction and I apologize in advance for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Thank you in advance,
Jamie Quimby, Tarkio Street Superintendent
