Gage McAdams, Josh McGinness, Briacin Bywater

East Atchison Wolves football players and cousins Gage McAdams, left, and Briacin Bywater, right, received a special surprise during the Wolves’ home football game Friday night, September 29. Their cousin, Josh McGinness, middle, returned from basic training and AIT schooling in Oklahoma for the National Guard and surprised the boys at the game. McGinness’s parents are Beverly and Kevin, and Beverly was a 1979 graduate of Tarkio High School.

East Atchison had a great game against Stewartsville, winning 46-28 and putting their overall season record at 5 wins and 2 losses.

 

The East Atchison Wolves Football Team added another win to their season on Friday, September 29, 2017, against Stewartsville in Tarkio. EA won the contest 46-28.
Though Stewartsville took an early lead by scoring in the first quarter and into the second, the Wolves quickly rallied. McAdams scored a touchdown from an 11 yard run and with a successful two-point conversion, put the Wolves to 8 to Stewartsville’s 14. Bywater then added a touchdown with a short 3 yard run, tieing the score at 14. The next three touchdowns saw EA and Stewartsville going head-to-head to gain the lead. Stewartsville took the lead in the third, putting the Wolves behind by 8 with a score of 14-22. Ian Hedlund tied it back up with a touchdown from a 12-yard pass from Jake McEnaney and a successful two-point conversion. Sitting at 22-22, Stewartsville added another touchdown making the score 22-28. To end the third, McAdams scored on a 16 yard pass from McEnaney and with a successful two-point conversion, the Wolves pulled ahead with the 30-28 lead. From then on, the game belonged to the Wolves. In the fourth quarter, McAdams put his speed to good use, running a punt return 45 yards to the end zone, putting the Wolves up 38-28 (score includes two-point conversion). McEnaney added to the score by running 1 yard for another touchdown. With a successful two-point conversion, the Wolves put some distance in the score (46-28) and kept the lead to the finish.
Jake McEnaney went 6/10 with 113 passing yards, 47 rushing yards, and scored 1 touchdown. Briacin Bywater had 69 rushing yards, 9 receiving yards, and scored 1 touchdown. Gage McAdams had 87 receiving yards, 18 rushing yards, and scored two touchdowns. Ian Hedlund had 56 rushing yards, 17 receiving yards, and scored 1 touchdown. When not taking care of the ball, McEnaney took care of the opponents, tackling 9 and assisting with 4 tackles. Other EA tackles included: Shae DeRosier – 6 tackles, 6 assists, and 1 tackle for loss; McAdams – 6 tackles and 4 assists; Hedlund – 4 tackles, 3 assists, and 1 tackle for loss; Ashton Yeary – 4 tackles, 1 assist, and 1 tackle for loss; Bywater – 2 tackles; Conner Marshall – 1 tackle and 1 assist; Keaton Williams – 1 tackle; Jordan Goodin – 1 assist; and Keevan Baker – 1 assist.
The game was close in total yardage with the Wolves’ 303 and Stewartsville’s 319. The Wolves had no turnovers and Stewartsville had 1. The Wolves had 5 yards in penalties and Stewartsville had 12. The win put the Wolves’ record at 5-2.
