A Kentucky woman was killed Friday, October 6, 2017, in a one-vehicle crash north of Craig, Missouri, on I-29. The accident occurred at 8:20 a.m. at the 99.6 mile marker, approximately seven miles north of Craig.
Aaron L. Crawford, 28, of Bellevue, Nebraska, was northbound, driving a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe, which travelled off the east side of the roadway, struck an embankment, became airborne, and struck another embankment. The vehicle came to rest on its roof.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report, a passenger in the vehicle, Holly D. Hunnicutt, 34, of Madisonville, Kentucky, was pronounced deceased at 8:43 a.m. by Atchison County Coroner Shawn Minter. She was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported by Atchison-Holt Ambulance District to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was wearing his seat belt.
The vehicle was totaled and towed by Double M Towing to Double D Towing lot in Mound City, Missouri.
Investigating the accident were Tpr. K.L. Ebersold and Major Crash Investigative Unit Cpl. R.V. McCormick. They were assisted by Atchison County Sheriff’s Department, the Holt County Sheriff’s Department, Atchison-Holt Ambulance District, Atchison County First Responders, and Holt County First Responders.
