The Fairfax R-3 School District would like to thank the Fairfax Optimist Club for their generous donation of $1,000 to the school’s Project Lead the Way Fund. The Fairfax R-3 School District is making an effort to increase STEM education for its students. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The school district is investing in a K-6 Hands on, Science and Technology based curriculum known as Project Lead the Way. Through hands on learning activities, students get the opportunity to make science and cooperative learning come alive. The Fairfax Optimist Club’s donation of $1,000 will allow the district to not only fully fund its K-6 initiative, but will also allow the district to look at other opportunities for the students. Fairfax Principal Dustin Barnes is pictured receiving the check from Optimist members Sam Creed, Marshal Oswald, Roger Martin, Jay Smith, and Jim Holtz.
