Toby Whittington, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Whittington, and Eric Bradfield, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Bradfield, were crowned 1992 Football Queen and King Friday night.
The Fairfax Marching Band, under the direction of Bill Wells, completed its marching season with a 3rd place win at St. Joseph Saturday in a 12-band class. There are 38 members in the band this year.
In “Over the Backfence,” Nancy Gaines says, “The debates are headed toward the finish line. Perot’s vice-president candidate won my heart when he said, ‘Repeat that again, I had my hearing aid turned off.’ If I wore one I’d have turned mine off, too.”

Dean Monroe and Jack Stoner went to Kansas City early Friday morning and flew to Chicago, Illinois, where they boarded a train for Fort Wayne, Indiana, to get a new truck for Dean. They arrived home Saturday morning.
The Finch residence, recently purchased by the Fairfax Community Hospital, was sold at auction last Friday to the highest bidder. Melvin Golden was high bidder on the house at $110. The garage went to Fred Smith for $100 and Maurice Graves bought a small shed. Buildings are to be removed from the lot by March 1, when the hospital board hopes to enter an expansion program on the ground.

Top speed of thirty-five miles an hour has caused a revision of all bus and truck schedules, so such carriers can make their schedules and comply with the regulations. Patrons of the local bus services will find the new schedule quite disadvantageous in traveling to and from St. Joseph as the new time card allows only twenty minutes between buses in that city, if the round trip is to be made in a day.
Seth Smith has purchased the property known as the Mollie Walkup place in the east part of town from Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Baker. The Smith family expects to move there to make their home.
