East Atchison hosted North West Nodaway in District football action Friday, October 20, 2017, in Tarkio. The Wolves won the game 78-20. The win advances the Wolves to the second round of District play this Friday, October 27, at Worth County at 7 p.m.
The Wolves were unstoppable from the very beginning, scoring the first seven touchdowns. Briacin Bywater scored first for the Wolves on a seven yard run and Ian Hedlund added two from the two-point conversion. Hedund then ran the ball 36 yards to score again (failed two-point conversion). Garrett Meyer scored next on a 10 yard pass from Jake McEnaney (failed two-point conversion). Bywater continued to put points on the board for EA, scoring twice at the beginning of the second quarter. He added another touchdown from a 14 yard run and with Hedlund’s successful two-point conversion, the Wolves went up 28-0. His second touchdown in the second quarter was scored from a five yard run. McEnaney added two from the two-point conversion. Gage McAdams scored on a nine yard pass from McEnaney and then Hedlund added two. Bywater put another touchdown on the board on a 38 yard run (failed two-point conversion). North West Nodaway finally answered the Wolves’ onslaught with a touchdown at the end of the second quarter, making the score 50-6. The Wolves immediately responded with Bywater scoring another touchdown, this one from a 65 yard run. Shae DeRosier ran in a successful two-point conversion. Keevan Baker added another eight points to the Wolves’ score with a 20 yard run touchdown and two-point conversion. North West Nodaway put another eight points on the board making the score 66-14 at the end of the third quarter. Conner Marshall scored a touchdown on a 12 yard pass from Austin Anderson at the beginning of the fourth quarter (failed two-point conversion). North West Nodaway scored another touchdown from a 25 yard run. The Wolves then ended the game with a score of 78-20 on a Baker two yard run (failed two-point conversion).
McEnaney went six of eight with 57 passing yards. Anderson went two for two with 36 passing yards. Bywater had a total of 161 rushing yards. Baker had 84, Hedlund had 57, Anderson had 20, McEnaney had 17, McAdams had 16, and Trey Bowling had 15. McAdams had 42 receiving yards, Jordan Goodin had 24, Marshall had 12, Meyer had 10, and Hedlund had five. Bywater had one punt return for eight yards and McAdams had one for 13 yards.
Zach Sapp had five tackles, one assist, and tackle for loss. Other Wolves’ tacklers included: Shae DeRosier with 5 tackles; Baker with four tackles and two assists; Keaton Williams had four tackles, one assist, and one tackle for loss; Goodin had four tackles; Meyer had three tackles, two assists, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery; Ashton Yeary had three tackles, one assist, and two tackles for loss; Hedlund had two tackles and three assists; Marshall had two tackles and two assists; Andrew Gibbons had one tackle, four assists, and one fumble recovery; McEnaney had three assists; McAdams had three assists and one interception; and Trey Bowling had two assists.
EA had a total of 469 yards versus North West Nodaway’s 225. The win put the Wolves’ overall record at seven wins and three losses.
