It’s that time of year again. Temperatures are dropping and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is checking equipment and material supplies to ensure they are ready when winter weather hits Northwest Missouri. MoDOT will hold its annual statewide winter operations drill Thursday, November 2, 2017. The goal behind the drill is to ensure crews are ready to address major weather when it becomes an issue in Northwest Missouri and across the state.
During the statewide winter operations drill, trucks with snowplows and spreaders will deploy across state routes in response to a simulated snowfall event. This exercise allows crews to measure the snowplow circuit, be aware of obstacles and obstructions, and better anticipate response times before snow really does fly.
