The Rock Port Park Board met Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Lisa Farmer, Greg Young, Jill Lager, Katey Kroeger, Tisha Jackson, Sheena Roup, Tawni Ellis and Shauna Farmer. Jim Skillen was absent. Also present were Rock Port School Superintendent Craig Walker, Alderman Todd Stevens and City Clerk Ashtin Paris.
Park Board President Lisa Farmer called the meeting to order. Jill Lager moved to approve the meeting agenda. Greg Young seconded. All votes aye.
Rock Port School Superintendent Craig Walker discussed future plans for a walking trail at the school farm. Walker requested the help of the park board in applying for grants for the project.
Katey Kroeger moved to approve the August 23, 2017, meeting minutes. Tawni Ellis seconded. All votes aye.
Jill Lager moved to approve the August 2017 financials. Katey Kroeger seconded. All votes aye.
Shauna Farmer moved to approve the September 2017 financials. Jill Lager seconded. All votes aye.
Jill Lager moved to approve the October 2017 financials. Katey Kroeger seconded. All votes aye.
One tree trimming bid was received for trimming trees on the north side of the park including trees at the north shelter house, north parking lot and north playground. M & L Tree Service submitted a bid in the amount of $1,900.00. The board discussed getting volunteers to help carry branches in an effort to reduce the bid. Lisa Farmer moved to approve the bid from M & L Tree Service up to $1,900.00. Tisha Jackson seconded. All votes aye.
Lisa Farmer moved to approve the 2018 budget as presented. Jill Lager seconded. All votes aye.
Swimming pool design and consulting services information from Ellison-Auxier Architects, JEO Consulting Group and US Aquatics, Inc. was reviewed. Katey will contact JEO and US Aquatics and Sheena will contact Ellison-Auxier Architects for on-site visits.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at 6:30 p.m.
Christmas lights at the park were discussed. Tawni and Tisha will purchase white and blue lights. A lighting ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, November 25, at 6:00 p.m.
