The East Atchison Fall Athletic Banquet was held Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Tarkio Community Building. Athletic Director Joe Unternahrer welcomed all in attendance and following the invocation, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner.
EA Football Coach Aaron Behrens got the awards portion of the ceremony started by recognizing this year’s football team. Players recognized included (EA signifies letter winners): Keevan Baker EA, Shae DeRosier EA, Andrew Gibbons EA, Conner Marshall EA, Wyatt Gray EA, Gage McAdams EA, Garrett Meyer EA, Jayce Navin EA, Zach Sapp EA, Austin Anderson EA, Briacin Bywater EA, Trey Bowling EA, Jordan Goodin EA, Gus Hurst EA, Jake McEnaney EA, Keaton Williams EA, Ashton Yeary EA, Ian Hedlund EA, and Hunter Bennett. Coach Behrens recognized the All-Conference and All-District players, as well as the team as a whole for a great season, which went into the second round of District play this year. Individual awards were also presented to the athletes for their performance on the field this season. Workout Warriors were Andrew Gibbons, Conner Marshall, Austin Anderson, Shae DeRosier, Jake McEnaney, and Ian Hedlund. Briacin Bywater was named Most Improved Player. Special Teams MVP was Keevan Baker. Defense MVP was Gage McAdams and Offense MVP was Jake McEnaney. The Wolf Award went to Shae DeRosier.
EA Cheerleading Coach Erica Taylor recognized this season’s cheerleaders and mascots. Cheerleaders (all lettered) include Bella Hurst, Tacy Mitchell, Madison Ohrt, Hannah Blank, Shelbey Morris, Emily Vance, Skye Clark, Taylor Stanton, McKenzie Frohn, and Gena Mitchell. The cheerleaders were also recognized for earning All-American recognition. Individual cheerleading awards were presented to: MVP – Tacy Mitchell; and Spirit Stick Award – Hannah Blank. Mascots recognized and who earned letters were Brianna Maxwell and Megan Lee.
EA Girls’ Golf Coach Terry Wooten recognized this year’s golf team. The team included (EA signifies letter winners): Bella Hurst EA, Lauren Quimby EA, Chloe Bruns EA, Kaely Kirwan EA, Jae Barnett EA, Ashlynn Meyer, and Bryli Staten. The girls had a fantastic year. The team placed 2nd at Districts and Lauren Quimby, Jae Barnett, Chloe Bruns, and Kaely Kirwan all received All-District honors. Lauren Quimby and Kaely Kirwan were State qualifiers. Individual golf awards were presented to: MVP – Lauren Quimby; and Rookie of the Year – Bella Hurst.
EA Volleyball Coach Jayme Wood recognized this year’s volleyball team. Players honored include (EA signifies letter winners): Leslie Bradley EA, Tawni Martin EA, Madison Ohrt EA, Lily Graves EA, McKenzie Hines, Madison Lesher, Grace Martin EA, Shelbey Morris EA, Cat Prater EA, Kilea Cooper EA, Jaycee Graves EA, Jesse Graves EA, Anna Klute, Cheyenne Gray EA, Autumn Murry EA, Brynnan Poppa EA, and Ella Rolf EA. Coach Wood recognized the All-Conference and All-District players, as well as the team as a whole for a great season, which included a District championship and advancing to Sectionals. Individual honors were given to: Most Aces 51 – Leslie Bradley; Most Assists 475 – Madison Ohrt; Most Digs 183 – Kilea Cooper; Most Kills 193 – Jaycee Graves; Most Blocks 27 – Jaycee Graves; Most Improved Player – Ella Rolf; and MVP – Madison Ohrt.
EA Cross Country Coach Zach Kellner recognized this year’s cross country runners. They include (all letter winners) Melissa Lang, Emily Vance, Shelbey Morris, Brianna Maxwell, and Zach Garrison. Individual awards were presented to: Male Runner of the Year – Zach Garrison; and Female Runner of the Year – Brianna Maxwell. Coach Kellner also recognized Zach for being a State qualifier.
