Shanna Gilpin, a member of the Fairfax FCCLA, headed up this year’s service project “Operation Christmas Child.” This is an outreach program to help children abroad experience Christmas. FCCLA has collected 21 boxes of toys, color books, crayons, toys, and personal hygiene items for this project. This means that 21 children without a present for Christmas will receive a box of toys and necessities from Fairfax FCCLA chapter. Inside the boxes are basic hygiene products such as a toothbrush, comb and a bar of soap for each child along with a washcloth, drinking bottle, a wow toy and numerous other items that are appealing to children of all ages. Items were purchased in Maryville on our group shopping trip along with donated items from members. The chapter had a lots of fun finding toys and other items for the kids who are less likely to receive gifts on Christmas and enjoyed packing all the items as well.
