Marci Alldredge Mulloy, RRT, RPFT, AE-C of Shawnee, Kansas, was honored at an award ceremony Monday, November 6, at the Adele Hall Auditorium at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City. Marci was one of two recipients of the PHIL Award (Pulmonary Health & Illness of the Lungs). It is the only nationally recognized hospital-based recognition program dedicated to honoring outstanding respiratory therapists who provide exemplary care and treatment for patients with respiratory illnesses. The awardees are nominated by patients, family members and other caregivers and selected by a hospital based committee.
The award, the first given at Children’s Mercy Hospital, honors and recognizes the unsung heroes in the respiratory professions who understand “that each breath matters.” The two awardees were chosen amongst the 31 candidates for the PHIL award from Children’s Mercy Hospital. Marci was awarded a significant trophy, a plaque and a pin.
Mrs. Mulloy, a 20-year employee of Children’s Mercy Hospital and a staff member of the Pulmonary Lab, tests and educates patients on their pulmonary health. She also assists pulmonologists with bronchoscopy procedures within the hospital.
She was a multi-graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia and a graduate of Fairfax R-III School.
A beautiful reception was held following the ceremony. In attendance on Marci’s behalf were her husband, Mike Mulloy, and daughter, Audrey of Shawnee, Kansas, and her parents, Bob and Marilyn Alldredge, Fairfax.
