The November 7, 2017, regular meeting of the William White DAR Chapter was held at the Mound City Nutrition Site, with seven members present. A prayer before the lunch was said by all.
The meeting was called to order by Regent Annamarie Hunziger. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, was recited and the national anthem was sung by all. Prayer was given by Chaplain Karen Fischer. The DAR Ritual was led by Regent Hunziger, reciting the American’s Creed, Preamble of Allegiance to the State of Missouri and Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America.
A short devotion reading, “A Memorial Day Memory,” was given by Karen Fischer.
The program was given by Janet Watkins on the history of Atchison County. Atchison County was established in 1845. It consists of 550 square miles – 547 square miles of land and 2.8 square miles of water. The Missouri River borders the west side of Atchison County. The county seat of Atchison County is Rock Port.
The President General’s message was read by Regent Hunziger. All other special minutes were given.
The minutes of the October 3 meeting were reviewed. A motion was made and seconded to approve the minutes as read. The treasurer’s report was given. A motion was made and seconded to approve the report and file for audit.
All old and new business were discussed. The December 5 meeting will be held at the Rock Port United Methodist Church. The Good Citizen Essay contest winner will be announced at this meeting. Hostesses for the December meeting will be Janet Watkins and Karen Miller.
