East Atchison and Rock Port high school basketball teams will be competing in the 59th annual Mound City Invitational Basketball Tournament November 27 through December 2, 2017. The bracket also includes pool play. Besides Rock Port and East Atchison, teams competing include Mound City, Nodaway-Holt, North Nodaway, South Holt, and Northland Christian.
In the girls’ pool play portion of the tournament, East Atchison, South Holt, and Northland Christian will compete against each other. EA will play South Holt at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 27. On Tuesday, November 28, Northland Christian will compete against South Holt at 4:30 p.m. On Wednesday, November 29, East Atchison will play Northland Christian at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the girls’ pool play will advance to the championship game of the tournament to be played on Friday, December 1, at 8 p.m. The second place team of the girls’ pool play will advance to the third place game of the tournament to be played Saturday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m. The third place team of the girls’ pool play will compete in the consolation game on Friday, December 1, at 5 p.m.
While pool play is taking place, the other teams will be competing in the bracket play. Rock Port girls will compete against North Nodaway on Tuesday, November 28, at 7:30 p.m. If they win, they will compete on Wednesday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. If they lose, they will compete on Thursday, November 30, at 5:30 p.m.
In the boys’ pool play portion of the tournament, East Atchison, Mound City, and North Nodaway will compete against each other. Mound City will compete against North Nodaway on Monday at 9 p.m. On Tuesday, East Atchison will compete against North Nodaway at 9 p.m. On Wednesday, East Atchison will play Mound City at 9 p.m. The winner of the boys’ pool play will advance to the championship game of the tournament to be played on Saturday at 8 p.m. The second place team of the boys’ pool play will advance to the third place game of the tournament to be played Friday at 6:30 p.m. The third place team of the boys’ pool play will compete in the consolation game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
While pool play is taking place, the other teams will be competing in the bracket play. Rock Port boys will compete against Northland Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m. If they win, they will compete on Wednesday at 6 p.m. If they lose, they will compete on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Ties will be broken with head-to-head play with point differences up to 15 points. Be sure to head to the Mound City gym and cheer on our local athletes!
