The Merrill Smith American Legion Auxiliary Unit #32 met at the Westboro, Missouri, Fire Station November 8, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. There was a short meeting followed by a Veterans Day supper.
A motion was made by Anna Belle Johnson to have Ponya King close the savings account and transfer the money to a checking account. Wilma Johnson, past treasurer, is deceased. The motion was seconded by Keisha Williams and all members voted aye. The motion carried.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Kolette and Landry Hester. The poem “Veterans Day” was read by Keisha Williams. The Lord’s Prayer was said and a great meal followed. Members, veterans, and their spouses who were present included Donald Lee and Nancy Martin, Joe and Carrie Cason, George and Patty Laur, Carol Kirkpatrick, Anna Belle Johnson, Keisha Williams, Kolette and Landry Hester, and Ponya King.
The District meeting was held in Savannah at Post #287 on November 4, 2017. Four members attended from Merrill Smith Unit 32. The next meeting will be in December to make cookie plates and discuss Girls’ State.
