The TEC club met on the very best day of the year to play pitch. Tuesday, November 14, had to be the darkest, drizzliest, most depressing day ever, until the pitch girls came to my house, and then it was sunshine everywhere. Merylan Lowrey was hostess, bringing her famous chocolate popcorn snacks for us to munch on during the games. However, that didn’t help her score. She had low score. Sharon Smith won high, and Susan Braams, second high. Although, I did hear Susan commenting after one round how it wasn’t fair the opponents scored twenty five, and she and her partner only had five. Kay Rosenbohm and Sharon Smith substituted for Pam Cooper and Janell McQuinn.
After the games, we gathered at the table for dessert hour. Again, Merylan’s apple pecan bundt cake was roundly declared the best ever. Then the conversation wandered all over and landed on memories of driving, with some of us remembering how embarrassing it was to not be able to double clutch without making that crunching sound that indicated that you didn’t know what you were doing. We are still not keeping up with the times. Not one of us owns one of those cars that parallel park themselves. We’re in favor of them however. I don’t know, I get tired of my car beeping at me warning me of this and that and telling me what I must do for it. My pickup even tells me when I should stop for a coffee break. So thoughtful of it! Would be nice if it served coffee. Why not?
