A new flag was added to the Avenue of Flags at the Fairfax City Park on Veterans Day, November 11, 2017. The flag was in memory of Bishop Walter Umbarger, who served in WWI in 1918 and 1919, and was presented by grandchildren Connie Hall, Steve Umbarger, Dick Umbarger, and Tim Umbarger. There are 110 flags now and the project is sponsored by the Fairfax American Legion Post 284.
