Julia Maxine (Hinton) Miller, 86, of St. Joseph passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017, at La Vema Nursing Home after an extended illness.
Julia was born on March 28, 1931, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Charles “Frank” and Eva Mae Hinton.
She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1949, where she was first chair violin.
After graduating from high school, Julia married Joe Richard Miller in December 1949.
They made their home in the Langdon-Nishnabotna and Rock Port, Missouri, areas. After 1978, she and Joe worked as motel managers in different locations in Missouri until retirement in 1999.
She enjoyed planting flowers, taking care of her cats, and feeding wildlife.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe R. Miller; son, Steve Miller (2015); infant daughter, Lea Ann Miller; great-grandsons, Tyler Arrnknecht and Nakai Lewis; and sisters, Katherine and Mary.
Surviving family includes daughters, Judy Esser (Leland), Teresa Malhiwsky (Bill), and Jerilyn Lewis (Larry); eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Nelda Hinton; brother, Glenn Hinton; and other family members.
Mrs. Miller has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Private inurnment for Mr. and Mrs. Miller at Hunter Cemetery in Atchison County, Missouri, at a later date.
