No commission was held Tuesday, November 21, 2017. The commission was attending the 47th annual Missouri Association of Counties meeting and training.
No commission was held Thursday, November 23, 2017, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Commission met on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner James Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed, approved and ordered paid.
Road and Bridge Supervisor Adam Meyer presented the used equipment bids that were opened and documented on Tuesday, November 21. North District Commissioner Jim Quimby made a motion to accept the highest bid on each piece of equipment as follows: CAT Dozer – $42,000; CAT Loader – $13,300; forklift – $2,630; tractor – $8,150; Mack dump truck – $19,500; and Mack truck – $7,500. South District Commissioner Richard Burke seconded the motion. Presiding Commissioner Livengood called for further discussion, there being none, a roll call vote to accept the bids was as follows: Quimby – yes; Burke – yes and Livengood – yes.
Commission stated the bidder must present cash or a cashier’s check to claim the equipment and if for any reason the highest bidder does not claim the equipment it will be offered to the second highest bid.
Clerk Taylor presented a question from Larry Lawrence in connection with a section of road near his property. Road Supervisor Meyer agreed to contact him. The section in question belongs to the Corning Special Road District and should be maintained by them or Holt County.
The commission continued to review budget plans.
North District Commissioner Jim Quimby made a motion to revise the County Health Reimbursement Plan to include dental and vision. The motion was seconded by South District Commissioner Richard Burke. Presiding Commissioner Livengood called for further discussion, there being none, a roll call vote to amend the policy was as follows: Quimby – yes; Burke – yes and Livengood – yes. The new policy will be inserted in payroll.
Presiding Commissioner Livengood presented information about the Stepping Up Program sponsored by NACO and requested that Atchison County join the program at no cost to the county and discuss it in more detail with Sheriff Dennis Martin. Clerk Taylor will obtain the necessary documents for the commission to review.
There being no further business to come before the commission, the commission adjourned.
