• Float winners in the Tarkio Christmas Parade were: 1st place – Exchange Bank of Fairfax; 2nd place – Tarkio Community Betterment; and 3rd place – The Logan Family.
• The 15th annual Christmas Dinner and Dance for clients of the Northwest Missouri Learning Center, Northwest Missouri Industries, and Park Place Group Home was held at the American Legion Building in Tarkio on Friday, December 11. Approximately 50 people attended the event, which was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit in Tarkio.
December 14, 1967
• Three students were chosen by the Student Council at Tarkio College to accompany President and Mrs. W.H. Schechter to London to lay groundwork for future foreign study for Tarkio students. These students include Kenneth McEwan, Yonkers, New York, Richard Nero, Rome, New York, and Karen Whiteside, West Chester, Pennsylvania.
• Santa Claus will again ride down Main Street on the fire engine and talk to the children December 16 and 23. He will give treats to the children after the free movie to be shown at the Tarkio Theatre.
• Georgia Houghton, State Community Betterment Representative Lee DeAtley, Dr. Ed Bare, and Fairfax Community Betterment Chairman Harold Snyder conferred on plans to try to obtain a County Health Program for this county at the meeting of Tarkio Comunity Betterment held Monday.
December 18, 1942
• The Tarkio High School Indians opened their basketball season last night by defeating their traditional foes from Rock Port on the Tarkio floor with a score of 34-12.
• Miss Rose Huston, returned missionary from China, was guest speaker at the Rotary luncheon Tuesday at the Walnut Inn. Rotaryanns, wives of Rotary members, will have a luncheon Friday at the Walnut Inn.
• A Missouri native knight award to Delores Smith, a pupil of the Star school, Atchison County, was announced this week by the Conservation Commission at Jefferson City. The award, a squire badge, signifies first advancement in rank under the nature knights program which stresses wildlife conservation and nature studies.
