S.C. First Class William C. Mallory, who had been reported missing in action when Corregidor fell, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mallory of near Corning, Missouri. Mallory was not missing in action nor wounded nor a prisoner of war. He was at Corregidor when he received oral orders to board the submarine Sea Wolf. Shortly after, the Japanese captured the island. Due to the fact that his orders to board the sub were oral and he was still on the list of being on island, he had been reported missing in action (After the island had been captured, he was able to cable his relatives to tell them he was safe). He did, however, lose all of his belongings and clothes except what he wore to the sub and many of his friends and pals were not so lucky and are still on the “missing in action” list.
