Taking the place of the regular annual treat of candy and nuts, which could not be obtained, The Rock Port Community Club will stage a free picture show at The Paramount Saturday afternoon for the boys and girls of the Rock Port trade territory. Free admission to all, from the little tots to those 16 years of age. There will be a feature picture and two comedies, films which are not a part of the theatre’s regular programs. A free snack of popcorn will be given to each boy and girl attending the show.

Kindergarten classes in the R-II school district will meet for all day instead of half days beginning Jan. 2 according to E. R. Dalrymple, superintendent. Half of the students were attending morning classes and half were attending afternoon classes. Under the new set up, all kindergarten youngsters will attend the morning session at 9:00 a.m. Those who wish to continue for the afternoon session will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.
George Beasing has been elected chairman of the board of the reorganized Rock Port Mobile Homes, Inc. Luther Thompson was elected president, J. R. Bailey, vice-president and Bill Corken, secretary-treasurer. A mobile home tract is being developed by the firm west of Rock Port on land formerly owned by Guy Shineflew on Highway 136. The company has received a state permit for completion and operation of the project. Weather permitting, sewer and water lines will be completed. Plans call for a lagoon sewage system.

The Rock Port wrestlers took first place in the Mid-Buchanan Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Blue Jays finished with a team score of 175 in front of Mid-Buchanan Dragons who finished with a score of 157. Individual winners from Rock Port included: 103 – Ryan Cook, 3rd; 112 – John Greiner, 4th; 119 – Jeremy Proctor, 2nd; 130 – Brady Owen, 1st; 135 – Garrett Schomburg, place not listed; 145 – Tim Moran, 3rd; 152 – Dusty Herron, 1st; 160 – Jason Stephens, 2nd; 171 – Rob Kish, 1st; 189 – Jon Viets, 1st; and Shawn Makings, 3rd.
