State Rep. Allen Andrews was recently recognized for his continued support of Missouri’s community colleges. Andrews was a recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Legislator Award presented by the Missouri Community College Association. He is one of the legislators who were named as recipients of the award during the association’s 53rd Annual Convention at the Hilton Branson Convention Center.
Andrews was selected for the award in recognition of his tireless support of community colleges and higher education in Missouri. The association specifically acknowledged his work as a member of the House Higher Education Committee and as the chairman of the House Subcommittee on Student Debt Relief. The association also praised Andrews’ support of higher education through his work on the House Budget Committee and as the vice chairman of the Subcommittee on Education Appropriations.
“We know just how important a college education is to securing a good-paying job, and just how vital our community colleges are to opening the doors of opportunity for thousands of Missourians each year. It is an honor to be able to work with the association to support these institutions of learning as they prepare folks for success in the workplace and adulthood. I am thrilled to be recognized for the small part I have played to help promote higher education here in Missouri,” said Andrews, R-Grant City.
The Missouri Community College Association represents the state’s 12 community colleges and works to advocate for their interests in the State Capitol.
